New Accessibility Classes being offered at MicroAssist
MicroAssist is offerring three new classes to help make your documents more accessible to the visually impaired. Equivalent access is required by Section 508 of the Federal code and these classes can help you comply with that requirement.
- Accessibility Training for MS Office - Understand how to use Microsoft Office 2003 and higher to create Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents that meet accessibility standards and can be used by assistive technology. Attendees will learn to identify common accessibility barriers encountered by people with disabilities within MS Office documents - images, forms, tables, spreadsheets, presentations and other document elements and structures.
- Accessible PDF Introduction - Learn to use the newest version of Adobe Acrobat to create documents that are accessible to screen readers and other assistive computer technologies. This hands–on training will provide direct experience with creating accessible PDF documents from word processing applications (e.g., MS Office, Open Office, etc.) as well as the basic accessibility tools for remediating PDF documents.
- Accessible PDF Advanced- Adobe Acrobat now has the functionality to improve the accessibility of PDF documents. This hands–on session will focus on using the TouchUp Reading Order tool in Adobe Acrobat to improve PDF accessibility for images, data tables, and multi–column layouts as well as strategies for assessing the reading order of PDF documents.
