History of Microassist

Founded in 1988, Microassist, Inc. is one of Austin’s most experienced software training centers, providing real world and real workplace training services to both government and private sectors. Our company is a primary vendor for training for the State of Texas under the DIR contract.

With the overwhelming popularity of the Internet came an opportunity to provide training for using the Internet applications. Microassist launched its first Internet course in late 1995. Today we offer many courses focused on using and developing for the Internet and they are our most popular courses.

Our Internet courses are based in the real world since Microassist’s Internet Solutions Division has been building mission-critical, high volume web sites and web applications since 1997. Merging its high-end database development team and Internet division gave Microassist a strong edge in developing complex and sophisticated database-driven web applications and web sites. Since then, the company has successfully continued to work with a broad range of noticeable clients in various fields, from advertising, real estate, legal, political, to state and government agencies.

Initially to support our own efforts, but soon also to help our various clients, we have developed significant expertise in the design and support of computer systems and networks. We have designed and supervised system upgrades for numerous clients, and a number of firms count on us to manage and maintain their computer infrastructure. We also proudly maintain our designation as a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider, and are expert in the implementation of all Microsoft systems. We have developed relationships with several other significant software providers, and can recommend, implement and manage their product installations as well.

Our History Unfolds

Microassist was founded in 1988 to help companies improve their most valuable resource: their employees. Since then, we have helped thousands of organizations and trained ten thousands of students. With ongoing professional development training, outreach elearning on health and public safety issues, and more, our training and technology systems touch millions of lives.

1988

Our Big Bang

Founded during the PC revolution as a technical training company, Microassist, Inc. is one of Austin’s most experienced software training centers. Microassist was founded to help companies take improve their most valuable resource: their employees.

1991

Systems Integration

IT services began to include network design, software installation and configuration, and implementation services for Microassist's web division. Those services continue today: As a Microsoft Partner, Microassist offers technical support and IT services that need part of full-time systems support, including reengineering business functions and upgrading technologies.

1992

Public Sector Training

We were first awarded a contract with the State of Texas IT for instructor-led training (ILT). We've enjoyed a consistent, longstanding history of supporting the public sector through quality services. As we've expanded our repertoire, we've continued serving the State and other government clients through competitively bid, quality training and IT development services, including app development, website development, and elearning projects.

1995

Introduction to the Internet

In 1995, CompuServe, America Online, and Prodigy start providing dial-up Internet access. With the rapidly growing popularity of the Internet came an opportunity to provide training on how to use Internet applications. Microassist launched its first Internet course in late 1995. Google was yet to be born.*

As the Internet has matured, we've continued to keep pace, adding courses on web design, web development, application development, cloud services, and Internet security.

Developing for the Internet

By the 1996, approximately 45 million people were online.* Merging its high-end database development team and Internet division gave Microassist a strong edge in developing complex and sophisticated database-driven web applications and websites. Since then, the company has successfully continued to work with a broad range of notable clients in various fields, including advertising, real estate, law, and government agencies.

2004

LMS Hosting Flexibility

In response to our customer need to reduce the risk of producing and publishing elearning, Microassist created a multi-tier hosting solution based on open source technology. By eliminating the technology and licensing risks associated with elearning, customers can focus immediately on instructional design and content production. At the end of the hosting contract, customers can then take the LMS in-house, take just the learning objects in-house or continue hosting with Microassist.

2006

Training Program Management

Originally concepted as a "Virtual Chief Learning Officer" for organizations, Microassist’s dedicated staff began offering a full array of end-to-end training services to help its customers achieve their organizational human performance goals. Today, These services include training strategy development, program oversight, curriculum design and development, training enrollment management, fulfillment and logistics, vendor management, training delivery, technology management and reporting and measurement. Microassist delivers its training programs via different methods, to include elearning, instructor-led, and blended training solutions.

Accessibility Prioritization

With the passage of Section 508 in 1998 and subsequent adoption of Texas Administrative Codes 206 and 213, Microassist formalized the accessibility process put in place to service existing state contracts. The suite of accessibility services available to both public and private sector clients grew from implementing accessibility practices within training to product development consulting and product evaluation.

2007

Embracing Elearning

Blending years of experience with in-class training with web development and delivery expertise, Microassist had developed several online learning projects before creating an official elearning division in 2007.

2010

Growth Brings Change

Experiencing growth in services and needing room for expansion, Microassist moved its offices to its current location in North Austin. Our facilities provide ample room needed for offices, as well as classroom space for our own courses or for customer room rental.

2014

Public Safety Initiatives

Building on the strong reputation and longstanding history of services offered to State of Texas law enforcement and public safety agencies, Microassist launches outreach to similar agencies nationwide. Microassist provides training, application development, and other services to help these organizations support their communities.

2016

New Image Reflects Ongoing Commitment to Service

With a continued focus on customer service, Microassist revamped its site and company branding. With a mobile friendly and easy-to-update online presence, Microassist's goal is to provide continued expertise, thought leadership, resources, and services to its growing community of current and new customers.
