Lesson 9: Viral Load Testing

Viral Load Results

You have previously seen a graph of viral load measurement at various stages of disease progression from initial onset to AIDS. Viral loads below 10,000 copies of HIV RNA per milliliter of plasma are considered low. Low, stable, and decreasing viral load is good. Viral loads above 100,000 are considered high. High or increasing viral load may indicate failure of a drug regimen.
