E-Learning Council is looking for the Top 10 Most Influential E-Learning Blogs. Nominate your favorite blogger and you are eligible to win a 16GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi
 
E-Learning Council’s mission is to advance E-Learning through a community that provides leadership, best practices and resources in a collaborative environment. The E-Learning community is fortunate to have dedicated thought leaders who help us in achieving this mission.
 
You can find E-Learning blogs covering everything from learning theories to content design, survey data to industry trends, and metadata to LMSs. Visual Thinking Workshops

MicroAssist is excited to welcome back Allison Crow of Crow Hill Conversations to our classroom! Her workshops at E-Learning Symposium were so popular that we've opened another session August 3rd! The morning will cover the basics of Visual Thinking, and the afternoon will delve deepper into involved learning and push and pull visual thinking methods.

Join Allison for a workshop on the value of using visuals to clarify ideas, ignite inspiration and ambidextrous thinking, to tell stories, and to capture attention and emotion for enhanced learning. Pick up the pen and start learning to get visual thoughts on paper. Learn the Visual Thinking Alphabet and other shortcuts to doodling well, as well as methods to launch your graphic note taking/presenting skills. Students will also discuss application and using visuals in sharing online.
 
Students are encouraged to bring their iPad, favorite stylus (Allison recommends the BOXWAVE or POGO), and the Notes+ app, but an iPad is by no means required!
 
Allison's second session will teach students to engage their audience with graphics, how to begin taking sketch notes, and how to create a visual template. Students will also cover the Push method of presenting content and Pull visual thinking methods to engage audiences.

MicroAssist is supporting the E-Learning Council by evaluating potential presenters from the healthcare area for E-Learning Symposium Houston. One of our instructional designers is attending the Association of Medical Illustrators annual convention to review visually rich training in medicine. For the last 14 years Linda Warren has coordinated evaluation of submissions for the Dr. Frank H. Netter Award for Special Contributions to Medical Education. She’ll be talking with people involved in medical education to identify potential speakers for the symposium.

Microsoft Office 2010 Tip: Managing Views in Outlook

 
Outlook 2010 has a new view, the Conversation view, that is enabled in the inbox by default. All of your emails are grouped into conversations based on the subject of the email, which reduces the number of items in your inbox by about 40% (on average). If you're not comfortable with the Conversation view, you can easily change it back to the default date view.
 
Click the View tab in the Outlook window and select Date from the available options.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
By default, different folders will have different views in Outlook 2010. It's easy to apply a single view to all folders in a single step, without the need to customize each folder individually.
 
To apply your current view to all folders, go to the View tab and click on Change View, and from the dropdown list select "Apply Current View to Other Mail Folders". A pop-up will appear that allows you to select all the folders you'd like and save the setting.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Views can also be customized to select which fields are displayed, the type of view, and so on.
 
To edit or manage views, click on the View tab and select Manage Views. To directly modify settings for the current view, click on View Settings. This will pop up a new window with several options. You can modify the columns that are displayed, how messages should be grouped, the sorting order of messages, filtering, conditional filtering, and more.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Once you've customized your views, it's good practice to save them - and Outlook 2010 enables you to do just that. Go to the View tab, and click "Save Current View as New View", enter a name for the view in the pop up window, and save it. Once a view is saved, it will appear in the Change View options, making it easy to toggle back and forth.
