Memorial Day in Iraq
I hope everyone enjoyed Memorial Day. We got a note from Lt. Colonel Joachim Strenk (a MicroAssist employee) who is serving at Camp Adder in Iraq that truly reminds us what Memorial Day is truly about:
Hope y'all had a great Memorial Day Weekend. Thinks have been extremly busy around here. We also lost another soldier last week from a sister battalion here on post. MAJ Colver was the XO for the 108 Cav Battalion and was killed by an IED. It made for a very somber Memorial Day. MAJ Culver was a Guardsman form Louisiana and left a wife and two kids behind.
MicroAssist was fortunate enough to sponsor a Texas 10-K at Camp Adder, in Iraq. I questioned why any sane soldier would want to run a 10-K in the heat of Iraq when they run daily. Joachim assured me that they would.
On a good note, the Texas 10-K was a great success and allowed the troops to focus on something different and let some steam of. Thanks for helping out!!! These events are so important to everyone! I got one of the bibs to send back to you and some other Texas stuff that MAJ Stephens gave me for you.
If you are curious about Joachim's role--here's a great story.
