HTML 4.01: Introduction

Course times: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Course Description:

If you have surfed the Internet, you undoubtedly have an idea of what Web pages are and have seen some of their capabilities and limitations. However, merely using the World Wide Web will not give you an understanding of how these pages are created. This is the first of three courses on the topic of creating Web pages with Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). This course presents the basics of this foundational Web technology and enables you to create your own functional pages.

Course Objective:

You will create, modify, and test Web pages.

Target Student:

This course is designed for students who are interested in learning about how to create Web documents. Students who want to learn HTML for their own personal use or for business related purposes will all benefit equally.

Prerequisites:

To ensure the successful completion of HTML 4.01: Introduction, we recommend completion of the following MicroAssist courses, or equivalent knowledge from another source:

  1. Windows 2002: Introduction
  2. Basic knowledge of the Internet

Delivery Method:

Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities. Each student is provided with a computer and a Manual. The manual is the student's to keep and makes an excellent reference guide.

  3. Topic 1C: Modify the Page Background
  4. Topic 1D: Create Paragraphs
  5. Topic 1E: Embed Images

  3. Topic 2C: Notate Code
  4. Topic 2D: Insert Horizontal Rules
  5. Topic 2E: Control Line Breaks
  6. Topic 2F: Group Elements

Lesson 3: Linking Web Pages

  1. Topic 3A: Create Local Links
  2. Topic 3B: Create Remote Links
  3. Topic 3C: Create Image Links

Lesson 4: Formatting Text

  1. Topic 4A: Apply Bold and Italics
  2. Topic 4B: Modify Font Styles
  3. Topic 4C: Create an Embedded Style Sheet
  4. Topic 4D: Insert HTML Entities

Lesson 5: Creating Tables

  1. Topic 5A: Create the Table Body
