Course Description:
With an estimated 10 billion business-related e-mails produced each day worldwide, e-mail is now on a par with in-person meetings and the telephone for business communications. Yet a substantial number of e-mails get ignored and misunderstood. This is primarily the responsibility of the writer, not the reader. This class will show you how to make your e-mails stand out and actually get acted upon.
Course Objectives:
Students will learn:
- How to write subject lines that get opened
- Openers that get people to keep reading
- The optimum length for e-mails
- How to organize your message so people can understand and act on it
- Ten common "grammar gotchas" to avoid
- How to avoid "flame wars", or emotional escalation
- 15 e-mail "netiquette" rules to live by
- One simple trick to avoid some of the most common e-mail mistakes
- Templates for commons e-mails
Target Student:
This course is designed for anyone who uses e-mail as a form of daily business communication, and is appropriate for e-mail users at every organizational level
Prerequisites:
To ensure the successful completion of Writing Effective Emails, we recommend completion of the following MicroAssist courses, or equivalent knowledge from another source:
